foldables

I use these a good bit in class. They are easily adapted to many different topics. Students really enjoy making these projects and then they have good study materials for later. The material for the students doesn't break my bank as much as other strategies that suggest using post-it notes and such that I don't really enjoy purchasing. Also with the foldables the student can use their own supplies--paper and colored pencils.

Exactly what is a 'foldable'. It sounds like it may be a good idea. Could you explain?

I used foldables in my Algebra I Part I class recently. My class created a foldable to help them remember how to solve multi-step equations. We included the following steps in our foldable: distribute, combine like terms, collect variable terms, add or subtract, multiply or divide. Some of my students have really enjoyed using the foldable while solving equations.

I also use foldables in class on some topics. It helps my students if we use a certain color of construction paper for that foldable. Then I can ask them or they can ask me if we are using the red sheet or the yellow sheet. Association with this helps them to rememeber the topic a little better. Plus, the creativity they use to create their foldable helps them to remember the material also.

I have not used foldables but would like to try it. Do you have any suggestions for biology? Are there any web sites that might be helpful? I like the idea of using different colors of construction paper for different topics and using these later as study guides before a test.

I have been using foldable in French class to help students with organizing different types of verb conjugation. We color coded regular and irregular conjugations and auxiliary verbs. It worked very well.

I found the foldables to be a very useful tool. As a teaher and student I find being able to learn while moving suits my style. I believe there are many students who learn te same way. I used the foldable, I created in the literacy class, for my PE students to teach the principal of overload. It was very helpful.

I think foldables are a good easy way to allow students to have an hands on experince in class. It is a great way to review for test or learn vocabulary
